We are currently looking for an EU Strategic Communication Specialist as our Team Leader on the Strategic Communication and Public Diplomacy Facility Project. This project aims at enhancing awareness of EU’s actions and the benefits of a stronger EU-Somalia partnership.

The project will focus on promoting understanding and awareness of the EU values, principles, interests and specific policies, including human rights, foreign and security polices, science and research, gender equality, green deal, digitalization, Team Europe visibility, fight against disinformation, and more. Additionally, the project focuses on increasing the profile, awareness, understanding and approval the EU’s partnership with Malawi, by focusing on and showcasing the comprehensive EU support and development cooperation.

Qualifications and skills:

• A Master’s Degree degree in communication/journalism or a related field
• Fluent oral and written communication in English; knowledge of languages spoken in the country will be considered an asset.

General professional experience

• Minimum 15 years of professional experience in communication services;
• At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of strategic communication and/ or campaigning;
• Experience in implementing strategic communication activities linked to EU visibility.

Specific professional experience

• At least 4 year in a team-coordination position in the field of communication;
• Experience of working on at least three large-scale, multi-channel communication campaigns;
• Experience as team leader in at least 1 EU-funded project;
• Previous experience in Malawi and/or in the region will be considered an asset.
