1 Objectives and Scope

The United Nations Mine Action Services in Somalia would like to procure a 40 kW 3 phase Solar Power System for its client. The system will have to meet a design that will be provided by UNMAS complete with drawings and equipment specifications.

The solar system is to be installed at the clients’ offices in Mogadishu, Somalia and the scope of work will include Supply and installation of the Solar system onto existing buildings. In addition to the solar system, the vendor may be required to carry out minor repairs to the roof structures of at least four buildings onto which the solar panels are proposed to be installed.

Companies interested must demonstrate their capability and provide evidence that they have enough resources and capacity to meet the requirement, including but not limited to authorisation issued by the manufacturers to re-sale their products, dealership agreements and proof of experience in supplying and installing similar activities/products in Somalia or any other location with a similar security environment.

2 Expected Procurement Components

1. Current power supply setup: Main power source – BEKO city power.

Alternative power source – Backup Generator; estimated to be 37.5kVA, hence power output = 30kW.

2. The proposed setup plan:

• Solar power supply to be principal/ Main power source.
• Daytime – the Solar system will supply power to the compound/ loads while charging the batteries. If the weather is not conducive, BEKO power kicks in automatically.
• Nighttime – The Solar System will use the batteries for autonomy. When the state of charge is drained to less than 30% battery full capacity, then the BEKO power will kick in automatically to supply power to the compound while effectively recharging the batteries at same time. If there is no BEKO power, then the 3rd option will be the generator.

3. Other considerations

The vendor will be responsible for the security of its staff enroute to and from the site and during the installation.

3 Special Procurement Conditions and Additional Information

UNOPS invites suppliers capable of providing to supply the equipment and installation to submit their expression of interest.

In order to be considered as a potential supplier, interested vendors should submit their Expression of Interest including the following information:

• Brief presentation of your company including any relevant certifications and manufacturers authorization to supply the equipment (where applicable)
• Reference list demonstrating your qualifications for participating in this possible upcoming bidding process.
• Current, or recent, experience of supplying Solar Power and Installation or similar activities in Somalia or any other location with a similar security environment.
• Technical specifications/data sheets of the defence barriers
• Delivery time after receipt of order
• Contact information (full name and address, country, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address, website and contact person)

This call for Expression of Interest does not constitute a solicitation. Its purpose is to identify companies that would be interested and have the capacity to participate in the solicitation when issued. UNOPS reserves the right to change or cancel the requirement at any time during the EOI and/or solicitation process. UNOPS also reserves the right to require compliance with additional conditions as and when issuing the final solicitation documents. Submitting a reply to a call for EOI does not automatically guarantee receipt of the solicitation documents when issued. Invitations to bid or requests for proposals and any subsequent purchase order or contract will be issued in accordance with the rules and procedures of UNOPS.
