Job title: Business Support Assistant-Cleaning and Catering Supervisor

Contract Type/Grade: G4

Duty Station: Mogadishu, Somalia

Contract Duration: 1 year (Initial)

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Coaching and developing employees' skills (cleaners).
  • In collaboration with the Service provider Team Leader, scheduling and assigning specific duties/roles to cleaners and also ensuring that they are carried out expertly.
  • Inspection of cleaning equipment on a regular basis so as to know when they are worn-out and also request for replacement to be provided by the service provider.
  • Controlling and monitoring the usage of cleaning materials so as to avoid or minimize wastage and/or misuse.
  • Providing any form of required assistance to cleaners while they carry out their duties.
  • Conduct weekly premises inspection of all the facilities to ensure the cleaning has been effective and prompt, all the accommodation equipment are in good working conditions, identify any gaps and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
  • Liaise with the services provider supervisor, to ensure the approved daily menus have been correctly prepared and served as per the related standards and in line with the related contract conditions.
  • Inspect daily the accommodation and office rooms, kitchen and dining rooms cleaning and hygienic conditions and ensure the required corrective actions have been taken in case of any identified need.
  • Organize fortnightly online survey to get feedback from the clients and report the feedback and the proposed corrective actions to address the raised issues from the conducted survey.
  • Determine when and whether to call for employees in to cover staffing needs.
  • Provide efficient counter service, ensuring the presentation of food is maintained to the highest standard, adhering to portion control guidelines.
  • Serve as the point of contact for cleaning and catering service provider and clients (WFP staff).
  • Ensure the cleaning and catering related communication is effective and follow up actions are effectively and promptly implemented.
  • Meeting with clients to set up specific catering & events.
  • Ensure that heavy duty kitchen equipment, light equipment, work areas, other facilities and general surroundings of the kitchen and dining rooms are maintained and operated to the required standards of safety, health, and hygienic conditions.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with both the cleaning and catering service provider and the Clients.

DO YOU MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENT?

Education:

  • Certificate of Secondary school education or university degree (Diploma bachelor's degree) in a relevant field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience with secondary certificate or 1 year of experience with university degree in general administrative in supervising cleaning and catering services within a UN, international Organization, government, or private sectors.

English proficiency:

  • Fluency in oral and written communication in English and Somali.

  • Must have good interpersonal attributes. That is to say, the supervisor must be someone that gets along easily with people (easily approachable)
  • Must be good when it comes to organization and coordination of both human and their activities. Must display a high level of integrity due to the fact that he/she may be in a position to take care of people's personal belongings. Good decision-making ability is a must.
  • Must be proactive in the line of duty.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to work as part of a team, and most importantly, lead a team.
  • Should have a clear understanding of customer service guidelines/principles. Must have relevant experience in cleaning and catering supervision within an international organization.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond simultaneously and in a timely fashion to job requirements. Ability to maintain accurate and precise records. High sense of responsibility and punctuality. Honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to work in a team and provide technical supervision to other staff.
